Mobile Data Recording (Collection) Devices
In many sectors, ranging from trade to logistics and even in the health care system, the use of mobile data recording devices and the possibility of being able to record data, barcodes, transponders, etc., at any time and in practically any place has become indispensable.
Mobile handheld computers offer a multitude of options for the collection and processing of data, such as:
Entering data:
Reading of data is enabled for example by integrated barcode scanners, transponder installed in or on the casing, the device´s keyboard or a touch screen and/or integrated camera.
Transferring data:
Data can initially be stored on the device itself and subsequently transmitted to the intended computer using a cradle, or transmitted directly to the intended computer by wireless radio transmission.
Operating system:
Usually Microsoft Windows Mobile, Microsoft Windows CE, Android or proprietary/ DOS-similar systems including software for the transmission of data.
Egonomics:
Mobile data recording devices are often carried by staff all day. Therefore, the weight and size of the devices is of importance. Other important aspects, however, can also be the size of the display, the keyboard, the grasp, etc.
Robustness:
There may be may different company-specific requirements concerning the robustness of a device. Some devices, for example, need to be adapted to cope with extreme temparatures, others are equipped with drop-protection or are dust/splashproof.
